Parent-Taught Driver's Ed Course

Teenagers, ages 14 to 17, wishing to apply for a Texas Driver's License must complete 32 hours of driver education and 44 hours of driver training. With our approved online Parent Taught Drivers Education course teens and parents can work on this goal together conveniently from home. It's as easy as 1, 2, 3.

1. Get Started: Register your teen for the online course and visit the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) website to request PTDE Packet. The Parent Taught Drivers Ed packet will lay out every step of the process.

2. Apply for Permit: Once TDLR sends you the Parent Taught Drivers Ed packet, your teen is now ready to begin the online course. Once the first unit is complete, your teen will receive a certificate that allows them to apply for their permit.

3. Complete In-Car training: After your teen has their permit, they will continue the online course while simultaneously completing the behind the wheel lessons with a parent instructor.
